A Handful of Charts on M&A

I built a database tracking acquisitions since 2018 and looked into the data to pull out some key trends that I think help describe the M&A environment and how it could change moving forward.

Introduction

As a complement to the IPO tracker I launched last week, I also wanted to run a similar exercise looking at M&A activity. I derived the bulk of this data from Biopharma Dive’s free M&A tracker, which catalogs acquisitions dating back to 2018. I looked through Yahoo finance and company materials and other news sources to fill in the gaps. I’m hopeful I can build additional categories into this database (e.g. like stage of acquisition) as it evolves. As always, Pro/Industry Tier subscribers have download access to this database and its corresponding charts.
